The Galaxy lineup has a new addition: the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. In January, the company briefly showcased the new model, revealing that it would be ultra-thin and feature a dual camera instead of the usual triple-camera setup.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is now official, boasting an exceptional design that surpasses the phone’s specs.

Design Is Everything

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge

The Galaxy S25 Edge has one primary purpose: impressing with its design. When asked why someone should choose this phone over any other Galaxy model, Samsung’s answer is simple: the design. The new phone is the thinnest in the Galaxy lineup.

It measures just 5.8 mm thick. For comparison, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is 8.2 mm.

At only 5.8 mm thick, the Galaxy S25 Edge stands out in the high-end smartphone market. This segment has generally been increasing in dimensions and weight to accommodate more components. The new Edge model is a breath of fresh air for users who desire a premium device that maintains a comfortable fit in both hand and pocket.

The phone features a sleek combination of titanium and glass. While it shares some similarities with other Galaxy models, it also showcases a distinct design language that sets it apart. The rear includes a camera module with two lenses.

Aside from its thickness and weight, the Galaxy S25 Edge is quite similar to the Galaxy S25+. It falls into the “medium size” category. It’s smaller than the 6.9-inch models but noticeably larger than its counterpart, the Galaxy S25, as well as the iPhone 16 Pro.

Qualcomm’s Top Processor Paired With a Tiny Battery

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge

The Galaxy S25 Edge is a premium high-end smartphone equipped with Qualcomm’s top processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is also used in the other S25 models. It offers 12 GB of RAM and storage options of 256 GB and 512 GB.

Its 6.7-inch display features the same specs as the Galaxy S25+. It boasts a Quad HD+ resolution, an LTPO AMOLED display, and Gorilla Glass Armor protection. Overall, it delivers a solid performance in terms of design and specs.

The battery is a primary concern with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, despite the company’s claim that it lasts a day.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has a 3,900 mAh battery and supports 25 W charging. Samsung claims that the phone will last a full day, but as a user of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, I doubt it. Battery capacity is crucial, especially with Android devices, so this phone will need to excel in optimization to keep up with its competitors.

A similar issue arises with the camera setup. The S25 Edge features only two cameras. The main sensor is identical to that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The new phone boasts a large 200 MP lens that allows for a 2x lossless zoom by cropping the sensor. It also features a 12 MP ultra-wide lens. However, it doesn’t include a telephoto lens or an optical zoom.

Whether potential customers will accept this trade-off remains to be seen.

Nice Additions

This Samsung phone comes equipped with One UI 7, the latest version of the company’s customization layer. It’s powered by both Gemini and Samsung’s own suite, Galaxy AI.

In terms of AI integration, Samsung stands as the undisputed leader, even surpassing Google. Currently, there are no other phones on the market that offer better AI features, including image editing, audio editing, and real-time translations.

Adding to this, Samsung promises seven years of software updates. Combined with the capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, this ensures that the software experience is hard to beat in the Android ecosystem.

The phone also boasts a range of advanced technologies, such as Wi-Fi 7, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, and an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.
